Overview ▾
About this Position
The Program Coordinator reports to the CREES Agriculture Production Program Leader and to the CREES Interim Dean. The employee coordinates activities with farmers and other stakeholders related to Western Sustainable Agriculture, Research and Extension (WSARE), Hatch, and other projects. Activities include but are not limited to participating in grant proposals, assisting in data collection, organizing meetings, preparing reports, and performing miscellaneous tasks such as data entry, document sorting, and online research.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree from a U.S. Department of Education recognized institution, plus thirty (30) college credits towards a Bachelor’s degree, plus two (2) years of work experience inprogram administration, office management, event & logistic coordination, compliance, data collection & reporting, or closely related field.

- Must have strong computer background including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, and database, preferably Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software applications.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks while maintaining composure under stressful conditions.
- Completes and prioritizes tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
- Takes initiative and works both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.

Duties & Responsibilities ▾
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in Program Review and Outcomes Assessment (PROA) activities as guided by NMC PROAC for the EPIIC project;
- Demonstrates the core values of CREES through everyday actions to maintain a collaborative and transparent workplace culture;
- Oversees the administration and success of the EPIIC project and executes the project goals and objectives, including reporting on grant progress and outcomes and budget management;
- Provides oversight and guidance to the program staff and/or intern to ensure productivity and task management;
- Conducts institutional needs assessment: identify needs of faculty, students, and existing industry partners;
- Establishes an Innovation Hub where students, faculty, and innovation partners can collaborate, share ideas, and work on innovative projects for the betterment of the CNMI community;
- Facilitates and strengthens relationships between NMC students, faculty, and community innovation partners. This includes building networks, organizing meetings, workshops and conferences, and ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and contributing to the innovation ecosystem as outlined in the EPIIC project plan;
- Assists and participates in multimedia engagement activities and outreach campaigns;
- Keeps records and file reports as needed;
- Manages the Innovative Spark Grants program, including the solicitation of proposals, coordinating the review process, awarding grants, and monitoring the progress of funded projects to ensure they align with the goals of the EPIIC project;
- Encourages and supports research in current innovative trends in the CNMI, identifying key area of innovation, supporting relevant research projects, and disseminating findings to foster an environment of continuous innovation and learning;
- Ensures that Innovation Spark Grant recipients successfully complete the required Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) training in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with institutional and funding requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Innovation Capacity Professional Development (ICPD) workshops, engaging faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Organize and facilitate EPIIC Innovation Capacity Professional Development (ICPD) sessions, ensuring alignment with Innovation Spark Grants, research symposiums, and/or institutional capacity-building initiatives.
- Collaborates with Principal Investigators and EPIIC cohort members on project evaluation activities as outlined in the EPIIC grant requirements;
- Maintains a good working relationship with department personnel and other College employees and external partners;
- Actively and productively participates in departmental and/or institutional committee work and other college-wide activities;
- Participates in in-service training programs as required, as well as frequent travel inter-island during specified periods of time.

Essential Functions of the Position
Must be able to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The individual in this position will frequently communicate with students and their colleague(s) in order to exchange information in various situations. Occasionally lifts office products and supplies, weighing up to 15 Ibs.The employee may be tasked to work outdoors in the sun and heat, on or around wet surfaces, and other areas exposed to the elements.
