The latest news from Northern Marianas College

Northern Marianas College’s Staff Senate awarded three employees as “Staff of the Quarter” as part of the College’s efforts to recognize its hardworking and committed staff members. The three are Facilities and Admin Services administrative manager Shirley Blas, Office of Admissions and Records administrative manager Kenneth Gabrido and NMC Foundation coordinator Carla Sablan. Each of them will receive a prize and a reserved parking space for the quarter.

“Congratulations to Staff of the Quarter awardees Shirley Blas, Kenneth Gabrido, and Carla Sablan," NMC Staff Senate Vice President Ryan Calvo said.  “They have been recognized by their peers for their extra effort in performing their duties to the college. I thank them for all that they do!””

Blas, Gabrido, and Sablan were recognized at NMC Staff Senate’s quarterly Coffee Connection held for employees on Wednesday.

“I’m very appreciative of the College and my fellow staff members who voted for me and the other awardees to be a ‘Staff of the Quarter’,” Blas said. “I am grateful for the teamwork that we have here on campus and I’m really proud to be a member of the Proa tribe. I’m really blessed to work with amazing people.”

Gabrido also thanked his fellow coworkers for the award.

“I’d like to thank everyone for voting for me, but I don’t deserve this award,” Gabrido said. “I was able to receive this award because of my hardworking team members who help me everyday at the college, so I’d like to dedicate this award to them.”

Sablan, now a two-time recipient of this award, said she is very grateful for her amazing team.

“Being named ‘Staff of the Quarter’ is such an honor,” Sablan said. “I'm grateful to be part of such an amazing and hardworking NMC team who have always been helpful since day one and continue to keep the job interesting. Thank you all so much.”

NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero, EdD thanked Blas, Gabrido, and Sablan for all the hard work they do for the college.

“The NMC family is thankful to have hard working individuals like Shirley, Ken, and Carla who ensure our campuses run smoothly,” Deleon Guerrero said. “I appreciate their continued dedication to the College.”
