NMC’s Accreditation History

Key milestones in the College’s accreditation, from its first accreditation in 1985 to today.

June 1985
Initial accreditation

2001
Senior college accreditation
NMC was given initial accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities (ACSCU), now known as WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), a rare distinction among U.S. community colleges. This accreditation allowed the College to offer its Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
2006 – 2007
Accreditation reaffirmed
Northern Marianas College’s accreditation was evaluated again and reaffirmed by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.
2012 – February 2014

July 2014
Fully accredited under WSCUC
Immediately afterwards NMC applied for accreditation fully under WSCUC and was granted Initial Accreditation in the July 7th, 2014 Action Letter.
Spring – Summer 2014
Bachelor of Science in Business Management
NMC completed a Substantive Change to offer a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, which was approved in the summer of 2014. NMC now offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Elementary Education and Business Management.
