The latest news from Northern Marianas College

LAST week, the faculty and staff from Northern Marianas College gathered  together to revitalize an important area around the college. Despite how busy our team has been preparing for the start of the Spring 2022 semester, they still made time for this important project. The camaraderie they developed as a result of this shared project is matched by the pride of ownership they feel in helping beautify our community.

Dr. Zaidul Islam Sarker, lead Food Scientist and Program Leader at the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Services (CREES), recently served as the keynote speaker for 3rd International Conference on Traditional Medicine in Modern Era for Cure on January 7-8, 2022, in India and presented information from his research regarding modified “green” method of supercritical fluid extraction.

Jhen’s Sweet Corner is the latest company to sign on as a Northern Marianas College ProaPerks Partner, joining many other businesses and organizations. All card-carrying members of the NMC ProaPerks program can now receive a free iced tea with any order.

NORTHERN Marianas College and the Department of Public Works on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement to establish an on-the-job training and social support program. The program is for women, minorities, and other disadvantaged individuals who are interested in highway construction careers.

NMC employees were hard at work repainting the medians located at Chalan Monsignor Guerrero. The College recently partnered with the CNMI Governor's Council of Economic Advisers to take part in their Marianas Village Pride ‘Adopt-A-Median’ campaign.

Partners and volunteers of The Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers-Public Private Partnership program started the year by completing three community improvement projects. Northern Marianas Sports Association, Shirley’s Football Club/Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Northern Marianas College completed adopt-a-median projects in high-traffic intersections on Saipan. The organizations gave streets, medians, curbs, and barriers much-needed facelifts and helped  improve the safety and visibility of the medians and curbs for motorists and pedestrians.
