NMC CNMI-Wide Internships for High School Juniors, Seniors (June 24, 2010)

Twenty-one high school juniors and seniors throughout the CNMI will be offered the opportunity to spend their summer developing their research and outreach skills in the fields of nutrition, entomology, aquaculture, plant pathology, agriculture, and food quality and safety.

Interns will be engaged in tasks and field duties that include preparing plant cells and cultures, feeding marine species, assisting in collection of insects and other invertebrates, organizing 4-H Summer Camp, writing feature articles for newspapers, and preparing samples for food quality analysis.

The positions are offered through the 2010 High School Summer Internship Program at the Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service (CREES).

The program, which offers 16 positions on Saipan, one on Tinian, and four on Rota, will take place from July 19 through August 13, 2010.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, should have an interest in the mentioned fields, and must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (current transcript). The deadline to submit applications and required documents is July 2, 2010.
