Saipan Laolao Donates Close to $5K to NMC Foundation (June 10, 2010)

The Saipan LauLau Development, Inc., who owns and operates LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort, a 36-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman, recently presented $4,440 donation to the Northern Marianas College Foundation, in support of the non-profit’s mission to advance higher education in the CNMI.

The donation was made as part of the company’s sponsorship of the Foundation’s 8th Annual Golf Tournament, which was held last April.

“We acknowledge NMC’s continuous efforts to improve the quality of life for residents of the CNMI through educational advancement and professional development,” said Tetsuya Matsunaga, Vice-President/GM of Saipan Laolao Bay Golf and Resort. “We are proud to help the College in all its efforts.”

The Saipan Laulau Development, Inc., a continued supporter of NMC, has donated nearly $14,000 over the past two years.

The donation was also part of the CNMI’s qualifying certificate program, which calls for Saipan LauLau Development, Inc., to make benefit contributions to community-based public programs and activities.

“We continue to be grateful for Saipan Laolao’s donation and continued support of the College and the NMC Foundation,” said NMC Foundation President Ben Babauta.

The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support the Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s lone post-secondary educational institution. The organization is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals.

“Saipan Laolao’s continuous support of NMC reflects the company’s steadfast commitment to advancing higher education opportunities for CNMI students,” said acting NMC Interim President Bobbie Merfalen. “We are ever thankful for their contribution.”
