Marianas Idol at the 2010 NMC Charter Day (May 5, 2010)

Six local talents will be competing during the upcoming Northern Marianas College’s 29th Annual Charter Day Celebration this Friday, May 7, 2010. Akeiko Dela Cruz, Iunie Wabol, Joan Liwanag, Cassie Kaipat, Jane Ogumoro and Ben Norita will each be performing as they compete for supremacy and great prizes in the Marianas Idol competition.

The person that comes out on top stands to win a $250 cash prize and other prizes from IT&E, Shell Marianas, 670 Rock Steady Shop and Box Office Video.

Along with the Marianas Idol competition, NMC will also be showcasing the Battle of the Bands and the Charter Day Dance Crew Competition.

Other competitions will include the Pika PROA Hot Pepper Eating Contest, the Coconut Husking Contest, the Frozen T-shirt Contest and the first-ever NMC Campus King and Queen Contest.

In addition to the exciting entertainment, there will also be several vendors featuring island delicacies and specialty drinks for sale. Confirmed booths include Spicy Thai Noodles, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, Fong’s Bakery, Fotten Gaga, The Set, Creative Guruk, Northern Marianas Academy, U2 Collection, Hula Girl, Java Joe’s and much more.

The Charter Day event will be held at the NMC South Field next to the gym from 4pm to 10pm and is open to the public.

The event is sponsored by Power 99, The Set Shirts and Apparel, IT&E, Shell Marianas, Pacific Trading Company, Marianas Variety, Box Office Video, 670 Rock Steady Shop, Ericco Enterprise, and The Athlete’s Foot.
