Pacific Islands Club Donates $2,500 to NMC Foundation (March 25, 2010)

Continuing its support of higher education in the CNMI, the Pacific Islands Club Saipan donated $2,500 to the Northern Marianas College Foundation earlier this week.

The donation was presented in support of the upcoming 8th Annual NMC Foundation Open golf tournament, which is organized by the NMC Foundation. The tournament, the organization’s signature event, aims to raise critical funds to support NMC’s academic programs and services.

Earlier this year, PIC donated $10,500 to the College to establish a scholarship program for NMC students.

“The Pacific Islands Club is committed to enhancing higher education opportunities for the students of the CNMI,” said Vicky Benavente, PIC Saipan executive assistant manager. “It is extremely important that students have local access to a high quality education so that they can expand their future prospects for productive and successful careers.”

“We are truly grateful for PIC’s continued commitment to helping ensure that ample resources and funds are available to our students,” said Ben Babauta, president of the NMC Foundation.

The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support the Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s lone post-secondary educational institution. The organization is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals.

“Over the years, PIC has been extremely generous and supportive of the Northern Marianas College,” said NMC Interim President Lorraine T. Cabrera. “We are extremely thankful for the partnership we have with them.”

Saipan Laolao Bay Golf Resort will play host to the 8th Annual NMC Foundation Open golf tournament, scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2010. For sponsorship information or to register to play, please contact 234-5498 extension 1050.
