Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Exam Review Course (March 10, 2010)

The Northern Marianas College, through the Division of Community Programs and Services’ (COMPASS) Community Development Institute (CDI) and the CNMI Area Health Education Center (AHEC), is offering a short-term training course to prepare hospital or clinical staff to take the dialysis certification examination.

The Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Exam Review Course will give students an opportunity to improve on their test-taking skills so that they may be more comfortable and confident in taking the CCHT exam. Students will review the principles of dialysis, procedures involved in hemodialysis and the basic skills needed in the health field. Content areas that students will be focusing on include: technical, environment, and role.

Aside from lessons on test-taking strategies, students planning on applying for the CCHT exam are expected to fulfill all other eligibility and certification requirements within their scope of practice, as defined by the State and Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission. Clinical training component is not included.

The CNMI Area Health Education Center will subsidize this review course for those individuals who are CNMI Legal Residents (United States citizens, U.S. Green Card holders, and I.R.s who are dependents of or married to U.S. citizens). Because of limited funds, subsidy will be based on a first-come-first-serve. Applicants are asked to submit a copy of a valid U.S. passport, a driver’s license or a birth certificate for verification purposes upon registration.
