Community Brief: NMC Registration Continues Until Saturday, Aug. 22 (August 18, 2009)

Registration will be ongoing for the upcoming Fall 2009 semester at the Northern Marianas College until Saturday, August 22, 2009. Those interested in furthering their education and advancing their professional careers can register for courses this week.

The College offers several degree and certificate programs, including a bachelor of science degree in elementary education, associate degrees in business, business administration (emphasis on accounting, business management, or computer applications), liberal arts, nursing, natural resource management, criminal justice, and hospitality management. Moreover, it offers short-term certificate programs in different vocational, academic, and professional areas.

New students are required to take an English and Math placement test before they register. After taking the placement tests, students can obtain the required slip from the English department and meet with their academic advisors. NMC academic advisors will help new students fill in registration forms and create class schedules. Students can then finish the registration process in Room D-1.

Application for admissions will still be accepted until the last day of Registration on August 22 provided that both placement tests have been taken. Note the following dates below:

Fall 2009 Dates:

August 17-21 Fall Regular Registration (9:00 am ” 6:00 pm)
August 19 Additional English Placement Test in A-9 (9:00 am ” 12:00 pm)
August 21 English Placement Test in A-5 (9:00 am ” 12:00 pm)
August 21 Student Orientation in D-1 (10:00 am ” 12:00 pm)
August 22 Late Registration (9:00 am ” 12:00 pm)
August 24 First Day of Fall Classes
August 24 “Welcome Fair” from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
August 24 Student Orientation in D-1 (5:30 pm)
August 24-28 Add/Drop Week (100% Refund)

Ongoing students must clear any outstanding balances at the Finance Office, the Library or the Curriculum Resource Center before they can register for classes. To find out if any balances exist, students can visit the Office of Admissions and Records.
