NMC-CREES Offering Internships for High School Juniors, Seniors (July 16, 2009)

The Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research Extension and Education Services (CREES), under the Division of Community Programs & Services (COMPASS), is offering twelve paid internships to incoming high school juniors and seniors.

The High School Summer Internship Program, which will run from August 3-28, 2009, is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Development in the American Pacific (ADAP) Professional Development and Resident Instruction/ Caribbean and Pacific Islands (CariPac) Grant.

The internships aim to provide students with excellent work experience and hands-on training through active involvement in different projects. The program is also part of NMC-CREES’s efforts to promote the College’s Natural Resource Management degree program. There are seven positions available for Saipan, four for Rota, and one for Tinian.

Interested applicants must also have an interest in the fields of agriculture and family consumer science, a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher, and must submit a two-page application form by July 24, 2009, at 4:30pm.
