NMC Buildings Undergo Facelift (May 29, 2008)

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve its facilities and infrastructure to further enhance student learning experiences on campus, the Northern Marianas College has announced that three of the four renovation projects on campus have reached completion. The completion of the projects also place NMC closer to meeting the accreditation mandates set by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.

The completed projects include the following: Building L, which houses the NMC’s Procurement and Maintenance offices, which were temporarily located at Building N and Building V, respectively; Building Q, which houses three classrooms for NMC’s School of Education; and Building S, which serves as the Curriculum Resource Center, a resource center for NMC’s School of Education students.

“The completion of the renovation projects on campus illustrates NMC’s commitment to accelerating the improvement of campus facilities and infrastructure for the benefit of our students,” said Dr. Carmen Fernandez, NMC president. “The completion of the construction projects will go a long way in helping to ensure that the college receives accreditation reaffirmation in January 2009.”

The renovated facilities are already being used for their intended purpose. However, Building M, which will house offices and classrooms for the college’s language department, is still awaiting the installation of its air conditioning unit. Once this occurs, students will be expected to begin occupying them for instructional purposes by Fall 2008.
