Saipan Tribune: NMC Foundation golf tournament draws 116 players (March 21, 2017)

The Northern Marianas College Foundation hosted last Saturday a fundraiser golf tournament at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort to raise funds for student services and programs and facility improvement at the lone college of the CNMI.

The foundation’s 14th Annual Golf Tournament was attended by 116 participants.

“We are extremely grateful for the strong show of support by the many sponsors who helped the NMC Foundation by donating in-kind or cash prizes,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “We are also thankful to all the golf players who joined us on the golf course this past weekend.”

Fernandez also thanked the volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to help organize the tournament.

A lunch banquet after the tournament also featured a raffle drawing for participants that included prizes, from golf balls to gift certificates, and a brand new iPhone 7.

The golf tournament featured hole-in-one prizes, including a 2017 Toyota Tacoma from Atkins Kroll Saipan, a 2017 Mazda6i Sport from Triple J Motors, roundtrip tickets to the U.S. from Delta Air Lines, and $5,000 each from Marianas Insurance, McDonald’s Saipan, and Pacifica Insurance Underwriters.

Participant Jang Hyew Duck struck a hole-in-one, receiving a hefty $5,000 reward donated by McDonald’s Saipan.

The NMC Foundation is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to raising funds for the college’s programs and services that ultimately benefit students. The tournament is the foundation’s signature event.
