Celebrating its 27th year of enriching and enhancing people’s professional and personal lives in the CNMI, the Northern Marianas College is inviting the community to its Charter Day festivities which will be held at the NMC Field on April 11 from 3pm to 10pm.

The Charter Day festivities will be showcasing the talent and performances of several well-known groups on the island, including Saipan Grand Hotel’s Zynergy Band, local entertainer Maggie Naputi, and reggae band Burning Bush. The event will also feature performances from Penina Ole Vasa, Da Metgot, Southern High Manta Ray, Final Extreme, Inatuas, the English Department Dance Club, and more.

Headlining the event will be the highly-anticipated Marianas Idol Competition, which will feature some of the CNMI’s most talented singers competing for the title of 2008 Marianas Idol as well as prizes donated by the event’s sponsors. Those who wish to participate in the competition must take part in the audition scheduled for Thursday, April 10, at 6pm at the NMC Student Center. Five finalists will be selected from the audition to perform at the Charter Day Festivities on Friday.

In addition to the exciting entertainment, there will also be several vendors featuring island delicacies and specialty drinks for sale. Other booths will have games for kids.

The Northern Marianas College’s Recruitment Committee will also be hosting a booth at Charter Day; students interested in applying for admission for Fall 2008 may pick up an application and get their application fee and placement test fees waived.

Sponsors for the event include PTI, Power 99, Pacific Trading Company, and the NMC Foundation.
