First Participants Complete Family Home Care Provider Training by NMC and DCCA-CCDF (September 14, 2012)

A group of child care providers from various day care centers in the CNMI recently became the first participants to complete the Family Home Care Provider Training facilitated by the Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute (CDI).

CDI awarded seven participants certificates of participation in this professional development training program during a recent ceremony hosted at NMC. These participants include Rose Del Rosario, Priscilla Cruz, Molly Ann M. Duenas, Rosa M. Pangelinan, Dyna B. Cabrera, Rosita D. Galvan and Rosita Macabugao.

The seven participants successfully completed a total of 18 hours of instruction over the course of several weeks. Courses in this training program included “Music and Movement & Physical Activity,” “Infant & Toddler Socio-emotional Development,” “Curriculum Development” and “Safety Topics: Indoor & Outdoor Environment.”

“We applaud these individuals for taking this opportunity to improve their skills and enhance their knowledge in order to become better child care providers,” said Acting CDI Director Floyd Masga.

“We would also like to recognize the hard work and efforts of the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs (DCCA) to improve the quality of child care services in the CNMI through training and education,” said CDI Program Manager Les Ogumoro-Uludong.

This training program was offered through an agreement between DCCA and NMC's Community Development Institute (CDI), which is a program that offers developmental courses in a variety of fields including child care. CDI’s Family Home Care Provider Training was funded by DCCA’s Child Care Development Fund (DCCA-CCDF).
