NMC invites community to attend the 30th Annual Charter Day (May 5, 2011)

The students, staff and faculty of the Northern Marianas College are inviting the entire CNMI to celebrate the College’s 30th year with Charter Day, which will be held on Friday May 6, 2011 at the As Terlaje campus from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.

The NMC Charter Day is an annual celebration of the College’s service to the community as an institution of higher learning.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating 30 Years of Sailing”. The event will feature entertainment favorites such as Marianas Idol, Battle of the Bands, Best Dance Crew Competition Challenge and Miss Pugua Pageant.

The highly anticipated Marianas Idol competition will be featuring six finalists that made it past the audition round. They are Teana Tudela Reyes, John Ronald Darag, Lizelle Salanga, Kassandra Royal, James David, and Leonard Manuel. They will each be performing song entries from the 1980’s in commemoration of NMC being chartered in 1981. All six was will be competing for great prizes in the Marianas Idol Competition.

The Battle of the Bands will be featuring Platinum Click and Unsigned and the Best Dance Crew Competition has three dance crews, L.O.L., The Lost Sqd, and Final Destination. Exciting prizes and bragging rights await the top performers.

There will also be other special performances and contests like the Hot Pepper Eating Contest, the Java Joe’s Smoothie Drinking Contest, as well as booth competitions.

The Miss Marianas Gay Pageant contestants will be making a special appearance for the Miss Pugua competition.

The event is sponsored by IT&E, The Athlete’s Foot, Java Joe’s, KFC, Modern Stationary, Borderline, All Star Sports, Marianas Variety, McDonald's, and Hollywood Theaters.
