Continental Donates Airline Ticket Prizes to NMC Foundation Tournament (April 21, 2011)

As part of its commitment to expand higher educational opportunities in the Pacific, Continental Airlines recently donated six round trip tickets that will be used as first place prizes for the 9th Annual Northern Marianas College Foundation Open golf tournament.

The company also donated an additional round trip ticket that will be used as a prize for the raffle drawing. The tickets can be used for travel to any destination Continental flies in Asia and Micronesia.

The 9th Annual NMC Foundation Open golf tournament is organized by the NMC Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose volunteer members are dedicated to improving higher education in the CNMI by encouraging private and public support for Northern Marianas College. The funds raised from the tournament will be used for the advancement of educational programs and student services at the College.

“Continental Airlines has always been a strong supporter of the NMC Foundation and the work that it does for the CNMI’s lone, accredited public institution of higher learning,” said Lou Sanchez, Continental Sales and Marketing Manager. “We are extremely happy and excited to be participating as sponsors for this year’s tournament again.”

“The Foundation is highly appreciative of Continental Airlines’ longstanding and unwavering support of our efforts,” said NMC Foundation President Ben Babauta. “The prizes donated by Continental will undoubtedly draw more golfers and in turn help us raise more critically-needed funds for the College.”

The tournament will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Saipan Laolao Bay Golf & Resort (West Course). Showtime is at 6:00a.m. with a shotgun start at 7:00a.m. The tournament will follow a medal play format.

Further, the tournament will feature six separate flight categories: Championship, A, B, C, ladies and seniors. In addition to the airline ticket, first place finishers for each category will receive $500. Second and third place finishers will win $300 and $200, respectively. The event will also feature hole-in-one prizes like a Hyundai Tuscon GL sponsored by Triple J Motors and $25,000 sponsored by Aon Insurance.

Those interested are invited to bring their family, friends, and playing partners for a great day of fun and fundraising for a good cause.
