Armstrong Withdraws from Presidential Consideration (April 27, 2011)

Northern Marianas College Board of Regents Chairperson Juan T. Lizama confirmed today that Dr. Jeff Armstrong has withdrawn his name from consideration for NMC President. Armstrong, who was earlier offered the position, was one of the three candidates advanced by the NMC Presidential Search Committee to the Board of Regents.

“Unfortunately, Dr. Armstrong has withdrawn from the presidential search process,” said BOR Chairperson Juan T. Lizama. “Nonetheless, we are still highly confident that we will be able to find a capable candidate who will lead the College effectively.”

According to Lizama, the NMC Board of Regents will be meeting within the next few days to plan its next steps.

“Selecting and hiring the next president of the College remains our chief priority,” added Lizama.

“Admittedly, conducting a national recruitment process has its challenges, and we have had some difficulty in negotiating with off-island applicants. We will continue to look at all our options as we move forward, including further consultation with ACCT,” said Lizama.
