NMC Names New Student Services Program Manager (March 10, 2011)

The Northern Marianas College recently named Rose Pangelinan as the new program manager for the Office of Student Activities and Leadership (OSAL), a program under the Student Services division.

The Office of Student Activities and Leadership is dedicated to enriching the student learning experience by providing activities that develop leadership qualities, character, responsibility, positive work ethics, and teamwork. OSAL achieves this through the initiation of activities such as debates, forums, sporting events, and student workshops.

“We are delighted to welcome Rose back to NMC,” said Interim President Lorraine Cabrera. “Her background in the field of education will prove valuable to the activities initiated by OSAL.”

An alumnus of NMC, Pangelinan received her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees at the College. As a student she was an active participant in the College’s activities as she served as President of the Associated Students of NMC, the College’s student governance body, and was an Honorary Student Regent. In addition, Pangelinan served as a chairperson for various subcommittees for the annual NMC Charter Day and as a volunteer for OSAL.

Before starting out as OSAL program manager, Pangelinan worked as an English tutor for Korean students studying at NMC before pursuing a career as a classroom teacher for various grade levels at the Dandan Elementary School.

“It’s good to be back working at NMC,” said Pangelinan. “My experience in designing and coordinating student activities and curriculums will help me in my position as program manager.”
