NMC Meets with Representatives from Changwon National University (February 28, 2011)

The Northern Marianas College faculty and staff recently hosted a meeting with representatives of the South Korean Changwon National University (CWNU) at NMC.

The College hosted CWNU as part of their efforts in advancing professional development focused on international exchange, cooperation, and governance. During the meeting, NMC faculty and staff engaged in a variety of discussions and facilitated a tour of the As Terlaje campus.

The visiting team is composed of a variety of professors specializing in fields such as International Relations, Law, Mass Communications, Public Administration, and Sociology.

“It is a privilege for the College to be hosting the representatives of Changwon National University,” said NMC Interim President Lorraine Cabrera. “The sharing of ideas with CWNU about the globalization of higher education will prove valuable to the advancement of NMC in forging relations with other colleges.”

Changwon National University is a public institute that offers various courses in the humanities, social sciences and engineering, among others. CWNU also has established international programs geared towards international student exchanges as well as Korean language studies.

“This is such a great opportunity to bring forth some exposure to the College,” said NMC Business Department Instructor and lead event coordinator Wil Maui. “Such exposure may foster vital international discussions that may ultimately lead to an increase in tourism in the CNMI, with the College serving as an information hub for visitors.”
