NMC-CREES Conducts Livestock Survey (February 2, 2011)

In an effort to study the feasibility of creating slaughterhouse facilities in Saipan, the Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research Extension and Education Services (NMC-CREES) will be conducting a survey of the number of cattle, swine, and goats on the island. The community is being asked to participate in the survey.

Survey forms are available at the Joeten Shopping Centers in Susupe and Kagman, and various livestock feed stores throughout Saipan. The survey forms will also be distributed at the Sabalu Market and during farm visits conducted by NMC-CREES extension agents.

Survey forms can also be downloaded from Those taking the survey can drop off the forms at the NMC-CREES Offices in Building F at the NMC As Terlaje campus, or arrange for forms to be picked up by NMC-CREES extension agents.

"This survey is not only important for the planning of a slaughterhouse facility but for the NMC-CREES extension service," said NMC-CREES animal scientist Dr. Allan Sabaldica.

The livestock survey will continue until Friday, February 18, 2011.
