The Beta Lambda Psi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Northern Marianas College has been named a recipient of the REACH Rewards program for the fifth year in a row. The recognition is part of PTK’s REACH Rewards program, which celebrates and rewards Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development by achieving exceptionally high rates of membership acceptance in the 2023 calendar year.

"We are thrilled to be recognized for our hard work and dedication to increasing awareness about Phi Theta Kappa and its benefits," chapter advisor Kaelani Demapan said. "Membership in PTK provides our students with the opportunity to enhance their college experience and develop leadership skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.”

“A huge shout out to our advisors—Malyssa Castro, Maia Pangelinan, and Jamin Dela Cruz—and current PTK officers––President MaryJo Camacho, Vice President Sharon Paek, Treasurer Rumina Litulumar, Membership Secretary Hannah Agulto, and Recording and Public Relations Secretary Ejay Aguirre—for encouraging their peers to join PTK,” Demapan said.

When asked about her experience in PTK, Chapter President Camacho said, “It is truly an honor to be a part of PTK as it has been an invaluable aspect of my college experience, shaping not only my academic journey but also my personal growth. Through PTK, I've been provided with valuable leadership experiences, networking opportunities, and service projects. I am also extremely grateful for the support and mentorship that I've received from our PTK advisors, officers and fellow members. I'm proud to be a part of this prestigious organization that is committed to fostering academic excellence, leadership development, and service to others. Congratulations, once again, to the NMC Beta Lambda Psi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for receiving the REACH award for its fifth consecutive year!”

The chapter earned six graduation stoles as part of the REACH Rewards program, which aims to increase membership acceptance rates and provides access to PTK benefits to as many students as possible.

In an email to NMC President, Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa, says, "Congratulations and thank you for your support in furthering Phi Theta Kappa’s mission of providing recognition and opportunity to students on your campus. The dedication of both you and your chapter advisors to enhancing the college experience and the lives of students is truly appreciated and more important than ever before."

Established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, the PTK Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming.
