NMC Alumni Members Elect Officers (January 23, 2008)

In a move that brings them closer to their aim of becoming more active at their alma mater and in the community, graduates of the Northern Marianas College recently elected the officers of the newly formed NMC Alumni Association. At its first general meeting, alumni members elected Jesse Torres as president, Christopher Cabrera as vice president, Jack Kiyoshi as secretary, and Jocelyn Tagabuel as treasurer.

“The composition of the elected officers represents a rich diversity of backgrounds and experience,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “We look forward to working closely with them to advance the interests of our graduates, the college, and the CNMI.”

Association president Torres graduated from NMC in 1999 with an associate's degree in business management. After graduating from NMC, he earned a bachelor's degree from Portland State University in 2002 and a master's in business administration from California State University. He currently works as the Saipan manager for Staywell Marianas.

After graduating from NMC in 2001 with an associate's degree in liberal arts, vice president Cabrera earned a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. He is currently employed as a guidance counselor at Marianas High School.

Secretary Kiyoshi graduated from NMC in 2000 with an associate's degree with a major in criminal justice and liberal arts. He currently works as a personnel specialist at NMC.

Treasurer Tagabuel earned her associate's degree in business administration from NMC in 2004. She currently works in the accounts payable section of the Public School System.

The officers are now working to formalize the NMC Alumni Association by preparing the requisite paperwork to form a nonprofit organization.

Graduates of NMC or those who have earned at least 24 academic credits are encouraged to register as members of the Alumni Association. For more information contact Kiyoshi at 234-5498 extension 1022, or email [email protected].
