Saipan Laolao Donates $4,200 to NMC Foundation (August 12, 2009)

The Saipan LauLau Development, Inc., who owns and operates LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort, a 36-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman, recently presented a $4,200 donation to the Northern Marianas College Foundation.

The donation was part of the company’s sponsorship of the Foundation’s 7th Annual Foundation Open golf tournament, which was held last June. The Saipan Laulau Development, Inc., had already donated $5,000 as part of their sponsorship; its total sponsorship contribution now amounts to more than $9,000.

“We are proud to help the Northern Marianas College further its mission of helping CNMI residents improve their quality of life through educational advancement and professional development,” said Yun Kim, President/CFO of Saipan Laolao Bay Golf and Resort.

The donation was also part of the CNMI’s qualifying certificate program, which calls for Saipan LauLau Development, Inc., to make public benefit contributions to community-based public programs and activities.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the College in many other ways, including the provision of internship opportunities and job placement possibilities,” Kim added.

“We are extremely grateful for Saipan Laolao’s donation and continued support of the College and the NMC Foundation,” said NMC Foundation President Ben Babauta.

The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support the Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s lone post-secondary educational institution. The organization is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals.

“Saipan Laolao’s contribution and steadfast support reflects the company’s commitment to providing higher education opportunities for CNMI students,” said NMC President Dr. Carmen Fernandez. “We are thankful for their contribution.”
