Saipan Tribune: NMC students learn the ropes of marketing through garden (October 15, 2019)

Ed's Bonita Park on Upper Navy Hill will become the centerpiece of a project of business major students of the Northern Marianas College's Marketing Management class, who will use the park as a hands-on tool to learn marketing concepts.

As part of their overall marketing project, the group must find ways to promote the botanical garden to various markets. They started off by meeting park manager Michael Manglona last Sept. 20.

As part of the course, students will work as teams to identify unique ways to market the park to various ethnic groups such as the Chinese market, the local market, the Korean market, the Japanese market, and an overall concept for educational purposes.

Manglona thanked NMC assistant professor Barbara Hunter for bringing up the idea to help promote local businesses for her marketing class.

Ed's Bonita Park is a private, 45-acre botanical garden located on Upper Navy Hill.

Hunter's class will create a mock website, a mini-brochure, and a short commercial that relates to the botanical garden.

For those interested or in need of additional information, you may book a scheduled visit at the botanical garden's Facebook page Ed's Bonita Park or email [email protected]
