Marianas Variety: Over 200 will graduate from NMC (June 26, 2019)

ON Saturday, Northern Marianas College will confer more than 200 associate and bachelor degrees to its graduating students at the Koblerville gym starting at 4 p.m.

Twenty-two students will receive an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree; 13, Associate of Applied Science in Hospitality Management; 14, Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration (Accounting Emphasis); 18, Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration (Business Management Emphasis); nine, Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration (Computer Applications Emphasis); 13, Associate of Arts in Business; 51, Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts; 23, Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts (Education Emphasis); seven, Associate of Science in Natural Resource Management; six, Associate of Science in Nursing; 19, Bachelor of Science in Business Management; eight, Bachelor of Science in Business Management (Accounting Concentration); three, Bachelor of Science in Education (Early Childhood Education Concentration); 14, Bachelor of Science in Education (Elementary Education Concentration); eight, Bachelor of Science in Education (Rehabilitation and Human Services Concentration); and five, Bachelor of Science in Education (Special Education Concentration).

NMC Interim President Frankie Eliptico said the Class of 2019 embodies the true meaning of “Marianas Strong.”

“They persisted through stress and anxiety to overcome obstacles and challenges that lined their path to Saturday’s commencement ceremony,” Eliptico added.

In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yutu, he said students persevered through the devastation that caused extensive damage to their homes and to the NMC campus.

“We are very proud of all of our graduates who will be joining thousands of other NMC alumni in contributing to the economic growth of the CNMI,” Eliptico said.

At the graduation ceremony, the college will hand out academic excellence awards to students who have earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, and announce this year’s recipients of the Student Leadership Award and the Community Service Award.

Jerry Tan, chief executive officer of Tan Holdings Corporation, will be the keynote speaker at the commencement ceremony which will be live-streamed on NMC’s Facebook page.
