NMC to Host Project PROA Summer Camp (May 21, 2019)

The Project PROA program at Northern Marianas College is inviting incoming high school juniors, seniors, and recent high school graduates to enroll in its Summer Bridge Camp, which begins on July 1, 2019 until August 9, 2019

The six-week camp aims to prepare students who plan on attending NMC for college for success and provide them with the opportunity to strengthen their ties to their cultural heritage with various activities and field trips.

Participants of the Project PROA summer camp program will engage in academic sessions in the morning provided by the Community Development Institute and cultural activities in the afternoon with organizations such as 500 sails, Carolinian Affairs Office, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, American Memorial Park, and NMC’s Cooperative Research Extension & Education Services.

To qualify for the camp, participants must be an incoming high school junior, senior, or recent high school graduate and self-identify as Chamorro and/or Carolinian, per grant requirements. Interested individuals must be program eligible to participate.

Participation is free with lunch and snacks provided as well.

The Project PROA program coordinators are working closely with Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute (CDI) to facilitate the enrichment portion of the camp which will allow participants to develop the essential skills needed to place in college-level English and math.

Forms are available online at or visit the Project PROA staff at the library in Building O at the NMC Saipan As Terlaje Campus, between 8:00am and 5:00pm.

Interested students are encouraged to submit their application online by emailing [email protected] or at the Project PROA office in the NMC library and must be submitted no later than Friday, May 31, 2019 at 4:30pm. Orientation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in NMC’s As Terlaje Campus on Saipan.
