Dear NMC Students,

It has been so wonderful and inspiring seeing you these past two weeks at Saipan Southern High School, where NMC resumed its Fall 2018 semester afternoon and evening classes. I know many of you are still recovering from Super Typhoon Yutu and are still having to deal with lack of power or other typhoon-related issues at home, and I commend you for your resilience and your resolve to continue your educational journey despite these challenges.

Although there were minor setbacks, the temporary transition to SSHS was successful. I am thankful for the CNMI Public School System’s and SSHS administration’s partnership in making this possible. Of course, I especially want to recognize and thank our NMC faculty and staff members who have worked very hard to help prepare SSHS and to ensure our students felt welcomed.

As you begin your break, I want to be the first to wish you a very festive and very restful holiday season. Know that we will be working throughout the next few weeks on NMC’s recovery efforts, including the placement of FEMA-provided classroom structures on campus, the planning for the construction of new NMC buildings, and other efforts to continue providing you high quality programs and services.

Please be sure to check your email often during the break; we anticipate making an announcement over the next few days about date adjustments for the continuation of our Fall 2018 semester and the Spring semester. We will also be making announcements about scholarship opportunities, the Cash for College event, and the available services that you can access throughout the break.

Again, Happy Holidays, Proas! We look forward to seeing you after the new year!

Frankie Eliptico
Interim President
