Recovery Update – FAQ (October 31, 2018)

Super Typhoon Yutu brought destructive winds and rain that resulted in extensive damage to Northern Marianas College’s buildings and facilities. While damage assessment and clean-up/recovery activities are already underway, the College is exploring options that will allow academic programs and student services to resume in the soonest possible time.

When will classes resume?

As a result of Super Typhoon Yutu’s destructive winds, classrooms and offices at NMC sustained severe damage. One of the options we are currently pursuing is holding classes at different sites on island. We are continuing the work of exploring temporary relocations because some of the sites that we are looking at are also undergoing some renovations and repair work. More information will be announced with the next few days. Please be sure to continue to check NMC’s website or social media platforms for updated news.

Information Session for NMC Students (Optional)

Information about NMC’s updated class schedule, financial aid, and other announcements will be made on NMC’s website and social media platforms. Furthermore, we are hosting information sessions to provide these updates in person. Attendance at these information sessions is NOT required. The information sessions provide another additional opportunity for students to receive updates and ask questions.

Reaching NMC staff members through phone

Financial Aid Disbursements

The first batch of PELL disbursements will be released next week. Please visit NMC’s website and social media platforms for the latest information.

Scholarship Deadlines for Spring 2019

Northern Marianas College has communicated with SHEFA and CNMI Scholarship regarding scholarship deadlines for Spring 2019. Deadline for SHEFA applications is December 1, 2018. Deadline for CNMI Scholarship has been extended to December 31, 2018. All supporting documents are due by February 28, 2019. APIASF Online Application is ongoing until January 2019.

Deadline for Tuition Extended

Northern Marianas College will grant an extension from November deadline to December 16, 2018. If you need additional support, please make time to visit the Finance Office once the NMC Campus is open to the public.
