Marianas Variety: Tinian group donates relief goods to Rota typhoon victims (October 9, 2018)

TINIAN — The United Filipino Association in Tinian led by its president Rodney S. Cabarles conducted a donation drive for typhoon victims on Rota.

The association’s public relations officer Susan M. Perez said they collected 20 boxes of clothes, canned goods, hygiene products, mosquito coils and other necessities from the Filipino community on Tinian.

The donations were then delivered to Saipan for inclusion with other donations collected by various government agencies, Perez said, adding that their group is thankful for the support of the Filipino community on Tinian.

Recently, he said the association received $5,000 in financial assistance from the Tinian Legislative Delegation.

These funds, she added, will be used for various projects that will benefit Tinian.

Last month, the United Filipino Association in Tinian conducted a cleanup from the library to the Northern Marianas College campus and Tinian Elementary School, and collected 25 bags of trash.

Perez said “it is important to focus on taking care of “mother earth” and to be “vigilant in preserving the environment.
