Marianas Variety: Senate congratulates NCLEX passers (July 13, 2017)

THE Senate on Tuesday acknowledged the Northern Marianas College graduates who recently passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses: Gemmilie Eugenio, Lovely Lopez, Mika Sablan and Yugeun Oh.

Introduced by Sen. Justo Quitugua, Senate Resolution 20-4 stated that Eugenio, Sablan, Lopez and Oh are residents of the CNMI who have the knowledge and personal experience of the dire need for nurses within the community.

"They have chosen a career path with high respect for human life and compassion for the suffering of their patients."

The resolution states that NCLEX is a rigorous examination that determines a person’s capability to begin practice as an entry-level nurse, and those who pass it join a critical and highly respected group of registered nurses in the CNMI who unselfishly commit themselves to the lives in their care.

The resolution noted that the islands’ only hospital faces a critical shortage of nurses due to the vacancies resulting from the federal CW cap which required several CW-1 nurses to leave the islands.
