To increase awareness about healthy lifestyle habits and practices,
Northern Marianas College’s Nursing Club is inviting all community members
to the 8th Annual Health Fair on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 8 a.m. to
12 noon at the multi-purpose center.
The Health Fair is supported with the assistance of the Area Health
Education Center, and other NMC and community volunteers.
Health Fair activities will run from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., but will also
feature a 5k Walk starting at 6: a.m. The first 10 participants who finish
the 5K Walk will also receive a t-shirt prize and a raffle ticket. Entrance
to the Health Fair and the 5k Walk is free for all community members.
In addition to the exhibits, there will be games and information booths,
screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and HIV/ STD testing and
counseling. There will also be various presentations and fitness
demonstrations. Funds raised will be donated to the NMC’s Nursing Club to
purchase lancets and other supplies used for community service projects.
“Our goal for this Health Fair is to increase awareness and the importance
of living a healthier lifestyle by eating the right types of food and
becoming more physically active,” said NMC Nursing Club president Maritoni
Raganot. “This is also a wonderful opportunity to expose yourself and your
children to the different health resources available in the CNMI.”
