NMC President Hart Leave Approved by Board. Board Appoints David Attao as Acting President (February 4, 2016)

Northern Marianas College Board of Regents Chairperson Frank M. Rabauliman and NMC President Dr. Sharon Hart today announced that President Hart has requested and the Board has approved leave of absence from the College. The leave will be effective beginning Feb. 4, 2016 through the end of President Hart’s contract (June 2016).

David Attao, Dean of Administration and Resource Development, has been appointed as Acting President.

Dr. Hart said, “As I have a number of upcoming job opportunities I am exploring, this will take me away from the College for a significant amount of time. The institution is in need of stable leadership as it prepares for a new president. Therefore, I had asked the Board that I be granted a leave of absence from NMC.”

Chairman Frank Rabauliman stated that the Board of Regents has accepted Dr. Hart’s request for leave of absence. Dr. Hart wants to ensure, as the Board does, a smooth transition ahead in institutional leadership.

“It is our priority to ensure that academic programs and student services continue as usual during this transition,” said Rabauliman. “To this end, I have asked Mr. Attao to serve as acting president while the search for a new president is underway.”
