Saipan Tribune: CREES gets a new dean (January 2, 2015)

The position of dean for the Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research Extension and Educational Services has been filled, according to college president Dr. Sharon Hart at the Board of Regents meeting last week. The new dean will report to the college in the next few months, according to her.

Right now, CREES’ acting dean is Patricia Coleman, after long-time dean Ross Manglona was sent packing in July this year when he was put on administrative leave and reportedly escorted off campus by security guards. His contract expired in August.

Hart described CREES’ new dean as one with “extensive experience in research extension.” To her understanding, she said, the new dean is currently working at a university in Afghanistan.

“We are extremely fortunate, and excited,” she told the Board of Regents.

CREES works with stakeholders in the community in such areas as agriculture, aquaculture, and food processing, among others.
