18 CHCC Nurse Managers Complete Leadership and Management Training by NMC (January 17, 2014)

The CNMI Area Health Education Center (AHEC) through the Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute (CDI) awarded certificates to eighteen nurse managers from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) branches in Saipan and Tinian for completing a “Leadership and Management Training” course.

The 18 nurse managers from CHCC make up the third group to complete the training course through AHEC. The previous groups were CHCC officers, directors, and program managers who serve in Saipan, Rota and Tinian.

The aim of the training is to sharpen the leadership skills of managers and other types of leaders, to help them better understand their subordinates and how to maintain work motivation and momentum. The two day training course deals with the key issues of understanding the people you work with, and how to communicate effectively with them.

The training course is catered to both new and more experienced managers covering topics such as “Different Types of Communication,” “Motivation,” and “Management Stress.” It was also taught by NMC Business Department chairperson and instructor Chavel Green. At the end of the training, the 18 CHCC nurse managers received certificates of completion from CDI.

NMC’s Community Development Institute (CDI) is a program that offers specialized courses and customized trainings designed to improve individual knowledge and skills and to meet both the professional development and personal enrichment needs of the community.
