NMC Hosts Cash for College Workshops on Tinian and Rota This Saturday (Nov. 9) (November 6, 2013)

The Northern Marianas College is inviting Tinian and Rota residents interested in pursuing higher education and looking to maximize their scholarship opportunities to attend the free “Cash for College” workshop this Saturday, November 9, 2013.

The workshops will be held on Rota from 9am to 3pm at the NMC Rota Campus, and on Tinian from 9am to 1pm at NMC Tinian’s Room D. These workshops will be ongoing sessions, so participants can stop by anytime between 9am and before the end of the workshops.

At the workshops, participants will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), CNMI Scholarship, the TEACH Grant, and scholarships specifically for Tinian and Rota residents. Workshop participants will also be given assistance with the NMC admission application process.

In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming Spring 2014 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.

Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid passport, birth certificate, or green card), three official transcripts, signed 2012 1040 tax form (2012 W-2 statements if you and/or your parents did not or will not file taxes), and/or proof of CNMI residency for 2011 and 2012 (for example, CNMI 1040 tax form, employment verification from your employer, official transcripts, voters certification, etc.)

Note that there will also be a Cash for College workshop for Saipan residents on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 9am to 3pm in Building A at the NMC Saipan campus.

For additional information, contact NMC Tinian at (670) 433-0649 or NMC Rota at 532-9513, or visit www.marianas.edu.
