Fifteen child care providers from various day care centers, including members of the community, recently completed a professional and developmental training program facilitated by the Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute (CDI).

These fifteen participants make up the eighth cohort of the “Infant and Toddler Care Training” program to be awarded certificates of competency, as well as Continuing Education Units, which are units of credit hours in a program designed for specific professionals. The participants successfully completed 70 hours of instruction covering topics like social-emotional growth and socialization, learning and development, and health and safety considerations.

These participants are Julieta DM Abad, Maria Theresa F. Atienza, Imelda M. Ballester, Jaye Napay Bautista, Erica Cabrera, Rency H. Castro, Marjorie Depino, Reynaldo L. Garcia, Cerila Samson McDowell, Ana Marie Pacamalan Ocon, Nolaida L. Placino, Glenda V. San Cabriel, Aurora D. Sanchez, Jesusa L. Seki, and Gemma L. Tamon.

The “Infant and Toddler Care Training” program was funded by the Department of Community and Cultural Affair’s Child Care Development Fund (DCCA-CCDF) program and facilitated through NMC’s Community Development Institute, which is a program that offers a variety of professional courses in a wide range of fields including child care.

“With this last cohort, CDI and DCCA-CCDF has graduated 117 students for this particular training program,” said Acting CDI Director Floyd Masga. “We are proud that this partnership between CDI and DCCA has given so many people in our community an opportunity to expand their professional skills and knowledge.”
