17 DCCA Supervisors Complete Management Course at NMC (July 10, 2013)

Seventeen supervisors from the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs (DCCA) recently completed a Supervisory Management course facilitated by the Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute (CDI).

The main purpose of the course is to help participants better understand their roles as supervisors by learning how to develop motivated, high performing teams and how to effectively work through challenges in order to achieve organizational goals. Some of the topics covered in the two-day intensive course included leadership, time management, communication, change management, team work, conflict resolution, and crisis management.

“We would like to congratulate these participants from DCCA for investing their time and energy to learn how they can improve professionally,” said Acting CDI Director Floyd Masga. “I believe that this will not only help the participants but will also have a positive impact on those they work with and the services they provide to the community.”

Masga added “We are also glad to be able to offer these types of opportunities and to continue working with DCCA.”

The course was offered in collaboration between the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs and NMC's Community Development Institute, which is a program that offers a variety of professional courses in a range of fields.
