NMC-CREES Offers Summer Internships for CNMI High School Juniors and Seniors (July 9, 2013)

The Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service (NMC-CREES) is encouraging incoming CNMI high school juniors and seniors for school year 2013-2014 to apply for its three-week summer internship program.

The internship will begin on July 29, 2013. As part of the internship program, students will explore and learn about the fields of agriculture and family consumer sciences. NMC-CREES has different divisions for students to intern including entomology, plant pathology, nutrition, food quality and safety, 4H, hydroponics, and outreach.

Internship positions vary throughout the three NMC-CREES offices and facilities on Saipan, Tinian and Rota. Note that applicants must also be a U.S. citizen and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

The deadline to apply for the internship is no later than 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Application forms are available for download at, or may be picked up at the NMC-CREES offices in Building F at the NMC Saipan campus, and at the administrative offices of the NMC Rota and Tinian Instructional Sites.

The internship program is funded through a cooperative agreement between NMC and the University of Puerto Rico. The project is called Developing Resident Instruction in Food and Agricultural Related Sciences at Land Grant Institutions in the Pacific and Caribbean Islands, Phase VIII (Prime Award #2012-38416-19977).
