4H Program to Host Cooking Competition and other Activities for Youth (May 29, 2013)

As part of the upcoming 30th Agricultural Fair activities, the 4H Program of the Northern Marianas College ” Cooperative Research, Education, and Extension Service (NMC CREES) will be hosting a number of activities aimed at promoting youth participation in the Fair.

The activities will include a junior cooking competition, an agro-fashion show, and a piglet race. The deadline to submit a registration form for any of the activities is Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

For the junior cooking competition, the main ingredient that should be made a part of the dish is the eggplant, which will be provided by the Fair organizers. Judges will base their decision about who has the best dish on presentation, taste and the use of the eggplant. Participants must be between the ages of 12 and 15.

For the agro-fashion show, participants must use natural materials only and will be judged on creativity, use of materials, and interview questions. Participants must also be between the ages of 8 and 12.

Lastly, for the piglet race, participants must bring their own piglets, which should be between 10 to 12 inches. Participants who plan to join with their piglets must be between the ages of 5 and 17.

Registration forms can be picked up from the NMC-CREES Office in Building F. Space is limited, so eligible youth are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible.
