Community Invited to NMC’s Charter Day Celebration on Friday (April 26, 2013)

To celebrate more than 30 years of enriching lives through higher education, the Northern Marianas College is inviting the CNMI community to its biggest celebration of the year, Charter Day, on May 3, 2013.

“We're inviting everyone to join us again in As Terlaje for our annual Charter Day celebration,” said Charter Day Planning Committee Chair Queanna Sablan. “We'll be showcasing various programs, celebrating employee and student achievement, and of course, featuring great entertainment.”

The festivities will kick off at 4:00 pm and will continue until 10:00 pm. During the early part of the celebration, the College will be handing out its annual PROA Awards, which include Student of the Year, Staff of the Year, Instructional Faculty of the Year, Non-Instructional Faculty of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, and Alumnus of the Year.

The evening portion of the event will feature the various entertainment and competitions, including the Marianas Idol singing contest, Battle of the Bands, Clash of the Crews dance competition, and the HiLux Truck & Sport Compact Car Show. Delicious food, drinks and games will also be offered for sale by numerous vendors.

Agencies, businesses, clubs and other civic organizations are invited to participate by purchasing booth space for the following categories: food/drink, specialty drinks (e.g. coffee coolers or pearl shakes), game booths, retail (arts and crafts, toys etc.), and information.

The deadline to submit applications for booth spaces is Tuesday, April 30, 2013 by 4:00 pm. Booth space is limited so applications should be submitted as soon as possible.

The booth fee is $150 with $25 of the fee refunded to the vendors upon clean up of booth space post-event and passage of inspection from Charter Day officials. For NMC clubs and nonprofit organizations, booth fees are $75 and also include a $25 refund upon booth space clean up and passage of inspection.
