Community Invited to NMC’s Career Fair (April 16, 2013)

As part of its efforts to connect students and community members with prospective employers, the Northern Marianas College will be hosting its annual Career Fair Day on Thursday, April 18, 2013. All community members are invited to attend this free event.

The Career Fair, which will be held from 9am to 12pm at NMC’s Building D, will feature several private sector companies, non-profit organizations, and government agencies who are looking to fill key vacancies within their organizations. The companies and organizations who will be at the Career Fair Day include the Public School System, Office of Personal Management, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Sorensen Media Group, Joeten Enterprises Inc., Hyatt Regency, Pacific Islands Club, NMC Human Resources, College Access Challenge Grant, DFS, Marianas Variety, USDA/ Natural Resources Conservation Services, Work Force Investment Agency and the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence.

To prepare participants for the Career Fair and for the realities of job hunting, the College’s Career Center had organized several career preparation workshops which were free and open to the public. The workshops included resume writing, dressing for success, meeting employers’ expectations, and customer service skills.

The following companies have participated during the workshops: Department of Public Safety Fire, Mariana Islands Nature Alliance, U.S. Department of Labor, Younis Art Studio, Hyatt Regency, Iridescent, Bank of Hawaii, and the NMC Nursing Club.

“We are grateful for the support that we got from businesses in the community,” said Neda Camacho, Career Services Manager. “We look forward to helping many members of the community to connect with prospective employers.”

The Career Fair activities are supported with funds from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Access Challenge Grant Program.
