Contestants interested for NMC’s Charter Day Competitions (April 15, 2013)

The Northern Marianas College is seeking individuals or groups who are interested in competing for the College’s Charter Day competitions: Marianas Idol, Battle of the Bands, and the Clash of the Crews dance competition.

The Marianas Idol competition showcases the CNMI’s local singers while the Battle of the Bands allows local bands from different musical genres to compete. The Clash of the Crews dance competition will be a chance for dancers to show off their own unique styles.

The Northern Marianas College Charter Day is one of the islands’ biggest celebrations of the year. “We’ll be showcasing various programs, celebrating employee and student achievement, and of course, featuring great entertainment,” said Charter Day Committee Chair Queanna Sablan.

Those interested in competing in any of the competition can pick up an application form from the NMC Student Center in Building J, or can download application forms or rules at There is no application fee for any of the competitions.

Applications for the competitions are due Thursday, April 18 by 4:00 pm. Contestants will be contacted no later than April 19 to schedule the dates and times for auditions. The auditions will be scheduled between April 22 to the 26 and are being held in the NMC Student Center in Building J at the College’s As Terlaje campus.

For the Battle of the Bands, groups are required to bring their own equipment.

This year’s Charter Day will take place on May 3, 2013 from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm at NMC As Terlaje campus.
