NMC Career Fair on April 18; Free Career Prep Workshops in Days Leading to Fair (March 28, 2013)

As part of its efforts to connect students and community members with prospective employers, the Northern Marianas College will be hosting its annual Career Fair on April 18, 2013. All community members are invited to attend this free event.

The Career Fair, which will be held from 9am to 12pm at NMC’s Building D, will feature several private sector companies, non-profit organizations, and government agencies who are looking to fill key vacancies within their organizations.

To prepare participants for the Career Fair and for the realities of job hunting, the College’s Career Center has also organized several career preparation workshops that are free and open to the public. The schedule of these workshops follows:

April 9 Tuesday (Student Center)
11:00 am to 12:00 pm: On Campus Employment Opportunities Exhibit
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Resume Writing

April 10 Wednesday (Student Center)
10:00 am to 12:00 pm: Free Health Screening
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm: One-on-one with Dr. James Hofschneider
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Dress for Success and Interview Prep

April 11 Thursday (Room D1)
11:00 am to 12:00 pm: Police and Fire Panel and Exhibit
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Employers’ Expectations

April 16 Tuesday (Student Center)
11:00 am to 12:00 pm: Protect Your Environment with MINA
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Customer Service

April 17 Wednesday (Student Center)
11:00 am to 12:00 pm: Fair Labor Standards Act
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm: Handling Your Finances

April 18 Thursday (Room D1)
9:00 am to 12:00 pm: Career Fair Day

Already, the following companies have confirmed their participation during the Career Fair activities: Department of Public Safety Fire, Mariana Islands Nature Alliance, U.S. Department of Labor, Younis Art Studio, Hyatt Regency, Iridescent, and Bank of Hawaii. Many more will be confirmed soon.

The NMC Career Fair committee is inviting other interested employers who are interested in showcasing job opportunities to contact Neda Camacho at the NMC Career Services Department (234-5498 ext. 1313 or e-mail [email protected]). Space is limited so employers are encouraged to contact the College as soon as possible.

The Career Fair activities are supported with funds from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Access Challenge Grant Program.
