Eighteen student participants from the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs (DCCA) Child Care Development Fund/Licensing, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Office of the Secretary, Council on Arts and Humanities, Nutrition Assistance Program, and Division of Youth Services recently completed a Customer Service training program facilitated by the Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute (CDI).

The participants completed a total of 8 hours of training during the two day program. The topics that were covered during the training included understanding the principles and values of quality customer service; effective communication strategies to maintain relationships; effectively applying strategies for managing challenging, angry, aggressive or frustrated customers; applying strategies to build customer relationships; and solving challenging concerns and exceeding the customer’s expectations.

“We commend these individuals for the time and commitment they invested to complete the customer service training,” said Floyd Masga, Acting CDI Director. “I have no doubt the training will have a positive impact as they carry out their responsibilities. We are also glad to continue our collaborative work with DCCA in providing these types of opportunities.”

Dr. Sharon Hart, President of the Northern Marianas College said, “The College will continue to increase the number of programs that provide personal enrichment and professional training to our workforce.”

The program was offered through an agreement between the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs' (DCCA) Child Care Program and NMC's Community Development Institute (CDI), which is a program that offers a variety of professional courses in a range of fields including child care.
