NMC Registration Extended to August 26 (August 19, 2011)

The Northern Marianas College, in its continuing effort to accommodate students who still have not registered for the Fall 2011 semester, has extended registration to Friday, August 26, 2011. Students may register between 9am to 5pm from Monday, August 22, through August 26, 2011.

Ongoing and new students who have not yet registered are encouraged to visit the Office of Admissions and Records to sign up for classes or to obtain more information about enrolling this semester. New placement tests have also been scheduled for those who have not taken the English or Math placement test. Please visit the NMC website at www.nmcnet.edu for dates and times.

The College had earlier announced that it had also adjusted its Fall 2011 semester to ensure that members of the community who have legal status to remain in the CNMI through CNMI-issued Umbrella Permits have the opportunity to enroll in courses during the upcoming term.

The adjusted semester now ends on November 26, 2011, three weeks earlier than the traditional end date in December. The duration of the term will comprise of 13 weeks of instruction, (August 22 to November 19) with Nov. 21-23 and 26 serving as final exam dates. The new class schedule can be accessed by visiting the Fall 2011 Registration Page on the NMC website.

College officials have assured that the shorter term will not affect the number of courses offered or the variety of programs offered, but will lengthen meeting times for all classes by a few minutes (ranging from about 10 to about 30 minutes).

The College offers several degree and certificate programs, including a bachelor of science degree in education (emphasis in elementary education, early childhood education, special education, or rehabilitation and human services), associate degrees in business, business administration (emphasis in accounting, business management, or computer applications), liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, and hospitality management. Moreover, it offers short-term certificate programs in different vocational, academic, and professional areas.

For more information about admissions, please call the Office of Admissions and Records at 234-5498 extension 1537, email [email protected], or log on to www.nmcnet.edu.
